Political Party Picker
Jan 18
Ran into an online quiz that will tell you how well you match up to each Canadian political party.
It’s interesting, I’d suggest taking it. It’s too bad I ran into it after having voted, but it confirmed I made the correct decision in ideological terms.
Here’s how I ranked:
- 100% – NDP
- 93% – Liberal
- 68% – Bloc Quebecois
- 31% – Conservative
I was glad to see BQ was my third ranking. I don’t know how I could live with myself had I gotten a rating of over 50% for the Conservatives.

Pretty cool quiz – unsurprisingly, for me, I had:
100% – Conservative
Somewhat surprisingly, the rest of my results were:
61% – NDP
38% – Bloc
27% – Liberal
I would have thought, ideologically, the NDP would be in last place for me. Simply because they’re the “middle of the road” party, I wouldn’t expect the Liberals to be the last choice for anyone, though quite honestly, if it were between a Liberal majority and an NDP majority, right now I’d choose the latter. I guess politics really isn’t all about left and right.

I’m suprised the Bloc came in higher than the Liberals for you. I’m not an expert on their platform but the impression I’ve had is that they’re a bit more socially liberal than the Liberals.
And I am also suprised that the NDP ranked higher than the Liberals for you. You’re right that the NDP should normally be farther “left” than the Liberals. Not sure if the data for this quiz is based on platform vs. voting record.

These results don’t make any sense.
New Democratic Party of Canada (100%)
Conservative Party of Canada (100%)
Liberal Party of Canada (81%)
Bloc Quebecois (72%)
Maybe I was too neutral, fence-sitting on the pivotal issues. Like arctic sovereignty! Who is going to attack Canada from the arctic? Only Russia, and they’d whoop us anyway. Unless we have some kind of missile defense… and a moon base…
Some issues I hadn’t heard of, like a separate Quebec olympic hockey team. I can’t imagine the IOC allowing multiple teams from the same country, but the idea of Quebec parading around in front of the world as if it’s already seceded is kinda insulting to the rest of us proud Canadians, from BC to PEI to Texas.

Interesting. I would have expected to get Liberal over NDP, although honestly I know relatively little about Canadian politics. Is missile defence really on the table up there?
1. New Democratic Party of Canada (100%)
2. Liberal Party of Canada (93%)
3. Bloc Quebecois (86%)
4. Conservative Party of Canada (40%)

Mike,
Yes Canada was asked (not sure if officially) to participate in the US missile defense program. The Liberals said no. The Conservatives have said they’d “revisit it” but it’s clear they would say yes.

FWIW, I got
NDP (100%)
Liberal (80%)
BQ (65%)
Conservatives (45%)
Not that it matters anyway
