When politics runs education
Mar 24
This is what happens when politics gets its hands into deciding curriculum in schools:
Is Evolution Arkansas’s “Hidden” Curriculum
Apparently saying the word “evolution” in Arkansas is considered “suicide” for a teacher now. I feel so bad for the kids caught in the middle of this since the science education they’re getting is deteriorating. What else should you expect when you have science curriculum not being set by scientists? It would be like an Auto Workers Union trying to dictate what can be said at Sunday services at churches around the country.

Vision of the future:
Student – “But sir, you can’t fail me in biology just because I subscribe to different theories than you! It’s not fair! You have to grade my paper on its technical merits, not on your preconceived notions of what’s factual or not! This isn’t fair! You may not agree with me that viruses only appear to evolve because God keeps creating new plagues every year, but you can’t prove it’s not true!”
Professor – “Are you sure science is really the field for you? Have you considered law school? You think like a lawyer.”

Canada has three times as many atheists per capita than the US! But we have a long way to go to catch up to Sweden.
