Nobody knows how to deal with Iran

This isn’t news, but further evidence came today: Canada to walk out on Ahmadinejad’s UN speech
I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad idea, but will it really do anything? All it’s doing is getting more worldwide media attention for this guy.
If the world really wants to send a message to Iran they should put their money (and cars, etc) where their mouths are and stop buying their oil. But, we all know oil is more important than politics or people, so that won’t happen.

Why do we care about Iran?
Even if they develop nuclear bombs, they won’t have ICBMs, so they can’t attack outside the middle east. The only country they could bomb would be Israel and Israel already has a hoard of nuclear bombs, so Iran would be stupid to attack them and would get obliterated in the attempt.
On the other hand, Bush rigged 2 elections and everyone just accepted it because they didn’t want to look like sore losers. Not to mention that he possessed ICBMs and wanted to use them preemptively against nations that didn’t possess them. Not to mention ignoring the UN charter and Geneva conventions, stomping his own country’s constitution, and the sovereignty of other nations. For eight years.
I ask again: Why do we care about Iran? Are we so desperate for new villains to rail against? Have Iraq and Afghanistan faded completely from memory or are we just bored by them?

I think we care about Iran because they have lots of oil. Also, the threat of possibly having nuclear weapons provides a nice boogey-man, which is always handy in US politics, especially.
Obviously, the argument that no one new should be able to obtain nukes is weak because the US turned a blind eye to India and Pakistan. Maybe that’s because they didn’t have a choice, but do with Iran since it’s smaller than those countries.
