Random breathalizer testing

Random breathalyzer tests considered for Canada
This really rubs me the wrong way. Police checkpoints along a road, in Canada, are bad enough (because they make us all feel like criminals even when we’ve done nothing wrong) but now we’d be tested too. Where’s the next stop down this slippery slope?
You want to know how to reduce the rates of drunk driving? The cops should go where they have probable cause to test people – the club districts on a Friday or Saturday night. I have much less of a problem with that than purely randomized testing – at least there’s a reason.

I’m sure they justify it by arguing that >50% of drivers on the road at 2am are either drunk or up to something nefarious anyway.
But logically, if they can do that, what’s to stop them from doing random house searches in high crime neighborhoods? It’s the same argument.
Where is the line? It’s wherever we allow them to put it. And they will keep moving it as long as we let them.

Further, why not log all our internet traffic to later comb through and look for any illegal activity. Doing this to random people is a lot different than when there is probable cause of a crime.
